The story is a romance and comedy and covers the themes of mistaken identity, love and deceit. The story has been adapted so that is is suitable for ages 7-9. There are three differentiated booklets. The higher booklet has two pages of text for the children to read before they complete a range of questions based on a mixture of the KS1 and KS2 SATs. The middle and lower ability booklets have the text split into separate pages with questions on each page. This resource is a comprehension activity based on the year 6 reading comprehension SATs paper. The theme is the story of Palm Sunday, which I have rewritten to resemble the style of the reading paper. There is a reading booklet and an accompanying question booklet, which contains a range of questions based on last year’s paper. Answers are also included. I have included 3 differentiated levels. The Higher Ability level (801 words) is similar to the SATs paper, whilst the Middle Ability (741 words) and Lower Ability (615 words) use slightly simplified wording in the reading and question booklet. This is a pack of four RE plans, perfect for using during the Christmas season. The lessons are aimed at KS1 and are all highly interactive, using a range of enjoyable activities to teach the Christmas story and its messages. The themes that are covered include trust, journeys, gifts and similarities and differences. Each lesson includes a detailed PDF plan with learning objectives, as well as a PowerPoint presentation telling the story. The PowerPoints are not editable. Click ‘Read Only’ to open them. Some of the images are only revealed when the PowerPoints are played as slideshows with the animations. The Christmas story is split into the following lessons: Angel Gabriel visits Mary The birth of Christ The shepherds visit Jesus The Wise Men visit Jesus In total there are 27 pages of lesson plans and worksheets (pdfs) and 93 slides of animated PowerPoints.
